New Worship Community Grants

A key goal in Liverpool Diocese is the planting and development of worship communities, which are small communities of disciples, established in a particular context, with a unique missional vision.  We recognise that these emerging communities often need seed funding to pursue their missional goals and therefore we are able to offer grants for new worship communities, to enable their start-up and growth.  The process for application is very simple, and is outlined below…

Criteria

  1. You must be a New Worship Community (no older than 6 months).
  2. The New Worship Community must be engaged with either Cultivate Enablers or the Diocesan 0-18 Children & Youth Team who will support you on your journey to starting up and growing your worship community.
  3. You must have a completed annual Pyramid Review or Youth and Children’s Ministry Review.
  4. New worshipping communities must have PCC (and in a Larger Single Parish, the Local Leadership Team) oversight and be endorsed by these governing bodies.

What can the grants be used for?

There are two different grants that a New Worship Community can access:

Starter grant – this is for immediate, very small costs for the early start-up of a New Worship Community. This may include cost for buying supplies, refreshments, printing costs etc. The maximum grant for this will be £500.

Development grant – this grant will support the worship community further along its journey to becoming sustainable. It may include room rental costs, buying equipment etc. The maximum grant will be £3,000 over 3 years (or up to £5,000 for extenuating circumstances).

Please note that the maximum grant is not automatically applied to a New Worship Community, it will be accessed based on needs. Cultivate Enablers or the Diocesan 0-18 Children & Youth Team will work with the New Worship Community to determine their financial need throughout the 3-year funding period.  Our focus is on the growth and sustainability of the New Worship Community.

How to access the grant

  1. Download the appropriate application form below and please ask your Cultivate Enabler if you need any help with the form.

  3. Send the application form and PCC/Local Leadership Team checklist to your Cultivate Enabler.

Approval and payment

  1. The application will be considered by a small diocesan team, then you will be informed of the decision.
  2. From the point that we receive the application, we intend to inform you of the result within 14 days.
  3. The Diocesan Finance Team will process the payment.
